About the Author and Illustrator

My name is Bob Boehmer.  I'm an Artist, Illustrator, Teacher, Writer, and Dreamer.

I still find inspiration to create my original art and books from the small historic Borough of Emmaus, where I live, and the rural Pennsylvania countryside

where I grew up. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing wildlife

and painting landscapes. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the

times I spent wandering through the woods and streams around my boyhood

home.

As an art teacher for thirty-eight years, and the project coordinator for the Space

Shuttle Blake Project, I've combined my love for art education from Kutztown University, where I received both my B. S. and M. Ed. degrees, and my passion for aerospace science to stimulate and challenge all those who have the courage to

imagine.

While working with NASA education and the space shuttle program for over twenty years, I've also received national recognition for integrating science, math, art, and technology. My professional awards include the 1993 Finalist for Pennsylvania’s Teacher Of The Year, The Presidential Award for Excellence in                  Science and Math Teaching, The U.S. Space Academy Wings Teaching Award,            The NASA Teacher in Space Program Award, and the Christa McAuliffe                    Fellowship Award.

Author and Illustrator Robert Boehmer has perfectly captured the charm and mysteries of a small town, both in his captivating stories and wonderful accompanying illustrations. As a fellow storyteller, I know it can be a challenge to create compelling characters and an exciting narrative, but the first two books in this series clearly possess the qualities that keep an audience interested and wanting more!
I look forward to seeing where Pitter and Patter go next as the adventure continues!

"There's nothing quite like the E.M.Maus Burrow Mystery Series. Part fantasy and part history, each book entertains and educates in a unique way, chronicling the antics of a bank of intrepid mice that live below the real-life borough of Emmaus, Pennsylvania.  Bob is a gifted storyteller and artist and his books are guaranteed FUN.  Like a bit of cheese to a ravenous rodent, you won't be able to resist devouring them."

Elementary school art teacher, artist, immersive space shuttle bus, Blake and space science program developer, Teacher in Space nominee and children’s book author and illustrator, Bob Boehmer, is a modern day renaissance man. Bob has incorporated his considerable talents and experiences in the development of the E.M. Maus children’s book series highlighting the many and diverse aspects of his beloved hometown, Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Reader’s will travel with Bob as he explores the wonder of historical Emmaus though his alter ego, E.M. Maus, the mouse. The artwork is exquisite and the storyline is delightfully compelling. It is a must read for elementary school students who enjoy historical fiction/fantasy with the added advantage that the readers can visit the historical sites of Emmaus that are featured in each book.

I loved the book so much! The drawings are outstanding. I loved all the local places you tied into the book.

I really enjoyed reading your book! I think it was very cool and creative to associate E.M.Maus and Emmaus. My favorite part is when Pitter and Patter are chased by the cat and discover E.M.Maus history. I enjoyed relating Emmaus and its landmarks to the book. I would definitely recommend this book to others. Can’t wait to read the second book!

Amy, Emmaus, PA

Bob Boehmer's clever storyline and beautiful illustrations are a testament to his love of the arts!  The E.M. Maus series combines mystery and history.  You just don't know what mischief Pitter and Patter will get into next or where it might be!
